Every one knows how successful he was in his day despite his behavior, but would he be as successful in our time behaving the same way? would he be a free man?

that is an interesting question. his behavior by today's standards was not all that outrageous. was his success due partly to the reaction of society to his lifestyle? i don't think so. he would definitely be free (elton john hasn't spent time in jail as far as i know). i think he would be just as successful. his works are still held in high esteem by current authors and playwrights. he is one of my favorites actually. brilliant.

I think he would do fine in today's society. He'd be a fine writer even today. And there are many openly gay men in the world now. Which is basically what he wanted.

O.Wilde in our days would be more free and happy, because our society is more opened than his.Even in our days he wold be a great writer because he had a genial mind and his books are very actual especially"The portrait of Dorian Grey".

I think he'd do very well today. His kind of wise-crack literature is very popular in our culture. And as far as being gay goes, it wouldn't be the problem it was then; if anything, it would give him publicity - it would be quirky.

He would be a brilliant writer, but he still wouldn't have the freedoms that he would want, and that he should have.

sure... today's world is even more complex than his... the only problem is that he might not be as shocking for us as he was for his contemporaries
