I really enjoy Philippa Gregory's books, especially The Other Boleyn Girl. It's a nice, easy, entertaining read- good for the end of a long day. I started reading it and couldn't put it down. It's about the sister of Anne Boleyn, who was believed to be a mistress of King Henry the eighth. It can be explicit at times, but most of the book speaks of pressure from family, pressure from society, and the influence of love.

It's great, and if you like it, you could also read The Queen's Fool and The Virgin's Lover. (It's a series!)

The Prince of Tides by Pat Conroy

I'm reading a really good one now by a friend of Pat Conroy's named Doug Marlette (creater of Kudzu the cartoon and the play)

The book is called Magic Time and he wrote another good book called The Bridge...both well worth reading.

The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera. There's a great section on semantics in there. It's just a beautiful, sad, metaphorical work. The movie's OK, but it does not compare at all in depth to the book.

Wow! Tough question. I would recommend for EVERYONE to read Huck Finn, if I could only recommend one. It is the original American novel and a truly brilliant book.

But there are soooo many more books worth reading.
