It happens! Sometimes we issue a couple of commands too close together and the PC gets confused.

If Control+Alt+Del doesn't work (and this happens occasionally), you will just have to turn the PC off.

It has also happened that the I/O button would not work. In this case, press it in for 6-7 seconds -- it will go off. At times, I've gone so far as to unplug the surge protector to totally clear the memory.

When the PC is restarted, it will probably give you a message that you did not shutdown properly and it will run a scan.

try pressing the ctrl+alt+del keys to bring up the task managers and go to process to know which one is eating up the time and killl that process.
try booting into safe mode and see what happens ..
remove unwanted and suspicious programs in add/remove programs from control panel do a search on it before removing it.
visit support.microsoft.com and search for clean boot and you will get an article just follow it.
Good Luck!

If your computer hangs or reboots while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. This problem can be solved by uninstalling new softwares, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes. Detailed instructions at http://tinyurl.com/yk5zpr
