This whole thing has been politicized. Did you know that there are different types? Did you know that embronic stem cells (which Democrats have been discussing) have no evidence of doing anything? Did you know that it is not illegal to use these for research? Did you know that Michael J Fox intentionally did not take his parkinsons medicine before filming this commercial?

The embryonic stem cells I refer to are the ones that are supposedly thrown away at fertility clinics. The studies show that these are the least useful.

To clarify, the reason why I mention Fox was off his meds is to over emotionalize his situation. He is known for doing this. There is nothing wrong with doing it, as long as you are honest about it.

I don't think many people on here know what it is. They do not do any research on here. They listen to whatever political party on media tell them and automatically agree. (SEE MORON ABOVE ME)....

I have not personally studied the stem cell story, so I won't give you some BS answer some political person gave me...

EMBRYONIC stem cells and stem cells are two totally different creatures. You can obtain stem cells without destroying embryos. However there is the argument that if they're going to be destroyed anyway...........yeah, that would be fine, but the potential for abuse is too great.

Another 'debate' on stem cell issue is funding. Most people are unaware that there are BILLIONS (yes that is with a "B") in private funds to support the research. With that kind of private funding, I believe my tax dollars would be better spent in other UNDERFUNDED areas of research.

In the beganing of stem cell research they were using aborted babys fetus' and also cloning human embryo's in order to do their research, I personally think that this is wrong and sick, however, they now have the information they need and now are able to take the stem cells out of humans without having to clone embryos or use aborted fetus', I don't agree with the means that they got their data, I personally think it is sick, but now that they have it, they may as well use it in an attempt to cure cancer and other diseases.

Embryonic stem cells shouldn't be used. There are other types of stem cells which work and don't involve an embryo.

If they are going to be thrown out, sure, use them for research. If not, it's best not to use them in my opinion.

People are of the notion that the only place to get the best stem cells is from aborted fetuses and that many women will get pregnant to abort fetuses for the stem cells, which they then can sell and make some money for themselves, before they do it all over again.

In a nutshell (and that was a carefully chosen word) the stem cells with the greatest potential come from parts of a womens body that is left over after an aborted fetus. Need I say more?

The stem cell debate that your refering to is in regards to using embryo's that would be discarded elsewise for scientific experimentation for numerous uses. Nothing ventured--nothing gained.

As far as your theory about Michael J. Fox--go suck an egg. If your siding with Limbaugh or even half believe anything he says your just part of the problem that will be going away after Nov. 7th.

In my opinion, it is another pulpit-pounding by the people who want a culture of death in America...

People who are pro-life are against anything that involves the destruction of embryos, and for some, that would include in vitro fertilization (which is why we are against even the embryos already frozen being used for research).

Who cares whether or not MJF took his meds or not? It is still a devastating neurologic disease with no cure. If he was willing to go through the pain (there IS pain involved) to show the effects of his disease...good for him!!
