To get a diploma it's usually a year to a year and half.

Depends on the type of technician and how far you want to go.

Degrees can be as little as 6 months to many years.

Certifications can be as little as a two-day cram course to many years.

For me personally, all my training was on-the-job through the military. So no schooling was needed for me.

The answer to your question is for as long as he or she stays in that line of work. Techno changes about every 6 to 12 months so it is an ongoing learning proccess. I'm pushing the big 50 and am going to school now for new tech. Online college courses. I hope this helps. "PEACE"

many technicians I had met have no formal training. first they started with a curiosity and then training with others who know by helping them. later for 3 months or so regular training. In Mumbai WIPRO conducts a 3 month training program with guaranteed job and salary too.
