Alot depends on what kind of dimmer the lamp had originally. It may be something that is perculiar to that product or can be something else entirely. Some lamps that plug into the wall can be controlled by a wall switch dimmer that powers the outlet. You can buy an aftermarket dimmer for it also. I have personally used one that I obtained at a Lowe's. It has a corded dimmer control can can be set on the endtable or any flat surface close to the lamp and it plugs into the wall outlet and then the lamp plugs into it. If it is an internal dimmer switch that has gone bad, perhaps if you feel comfortable dismantling the lamp you can take the switch itself to a local hardware store and get a replacement or advice where you can get a replacement locally. Good luck and be careful when dealing with electricity.
