In the state of Florida they are trying to pass a law that would deem Hazing illegal and it would be a felony....

What r your thoughts on this.....

There was a Chicago incident where high school junor and senoir girls rallied after game off school property and..a hazing incident got out of control....girls began fighting, they made the junoirs eat feces, and it was found that some parents supplied alcohol for the minors....this happened a couple of years ago and was vidoe tapped....

Hazing is still practiced on college campus as well...

What are your thoughts on this....
Keep in mind in most cases that these people volunteer to do these things to become apart of a organization...

We need to keep a cool head n mind to ponder this 'phenomenon'.

Hazing - if its done with the intention of 'easing' a new student into the main stream or campus living environment with the accompanying do's & dont's, in's & out's, normal & abnormal, acceptable (to students) & the unacceptables......then by all means have it........n let the freshmen benefit from it.

I believe we could all agree that there is just too much bad publicity about hazing due to the few nasty incidences that made the headlines....................n of coz.....if any one life is lost due to excesses or extremes...........then it is completely and absolutely unaccpetable.

You may like to know: If the original intention is good.........how could things go so bad?

Well................the whole thing boils done to supervision of the execution..........if the hazing in question was designed to help...... rather than to humiliate or intimidate.

Its sad to note that humans are giiven the previlegde of having a well developed brain............n the valuable faculties to judge what is good, not-so-good & what is really & truly bad...........but humans do not always use them to yield beneficial & good results.

HUamans need supervision, command, guidance & regulation..... whatever your thoughts are on these 'restrictive' rules against individual freedom...........we do need them!

The reason being..........humans are not born equal.......or the same in thoguhts & mind. There will always be the good & the bad, resonable & kind and irrational & evil.............opposites will always co-exist in this world.

Humans are not exempt from this simple universal occurrence..........there are bad apples everywhere.........in the campuses, in businesses, in sports..........n yes!.........even in the religious faculties!!!

There is absolutely no excuse to have some newly arrived student on the campus to be injure or harmed physically...... or emotionally or mentally. When that happened.........the sledge hammer should be out.........n the perpetuators punished to the 'extreme'........just throwing the book at them is hust not punitive enough to match the evil done!

I personally went through hazing in my first entry into a university. Although there were some 'extreme' physical acts done to me..... I shouldered them with some unfound tolerances.........n survive the ordeal to face the world when I graduated.

I have to admit......if I did not go through the hazing that I did....... I probably would not have been able to face & handle the world as I did......... with strength, tenacity & much success.

In the final ananlysis hazing could be good or bad.......it's really up to the institution to impsoe certain rules & standards for the individuals concerned to follow..............n the same institution must set a limit.........beyond which any offender(s) must be held responsible for their actions.

I personally feel........if any hazing goes 'wrong' and a life is lost.... nail the person(s) responsible n let thim or them face the murder rap.........first degree........no less (as the hazing is a planned & premeditated program.

Note: my apologies to those anti-hazing persons....... I am for it on the proviso that it be clearly made known to those participating that there is a firm & serious price to pay if they go beyond hazing..... into the realms of hooliganism & irresponsible behaviour.

It's one of those things where people cross a line very slowly, but when hey do, they do it repeatedly.

I think the purpose of hazing originally was to gain a committment of a pledge and have them prove their loyality. How can one do this, these days.

1) Inflicting pain on others is wrong
2) Inflicting mental anguish is wrong
3) Giving them drugs or alcohol without consent, or in a dangerous fashion is wrong
4) Embarassing them could be wrong in some cases. Although I would think that the pledge could embarass themself without harm; although 1 and 2 is easily done in this category.

Yeah, hazing should be illegal in today's world.

It probly started out as something innocent but over the years it has evolved into gruesome and nasty situations whish endanger young persons' lives....so as a result i think that it should be made illegal so that those persons could look for some other way to catch their kicks......persons have died from hazing incidents and many others severely injured so yea i think it is a practice that should be curtailed and making it illegal would help....

It should be illegal.

All hazing does is encourage mob mentality and the heard mentality (following someone blindly, no matter what the cost, to be a part of the flock). It doesn't serve any other purpose than to allow someone to abuse and control another. But the "victims" of hazing are just as much to blame. They allow these people to do these stupid things to them, or force them to do stupid, harmful things to themselves.

I think it's ok to do the Hazing ceromony, but it has to be tastefully done. Doing it safely is key. I don't understand what these kids get out of seeing someone do something they would not do! it's demeaning and disrespectful and why would u want to get into a frat or a sorority to lower yourself to their standards? have u no respect for yourself?

Maybe. Some hazing "i.e joking, taunting, and pushing" is ok as long as your expecting it. The violent aspect is totally uneaceptable. Degrading treatment, abuse, and mental assault are completely unnessecary. My advice "avoid it altogether".

Yes, it damn well should be illegal. Too many people are getting seriously injured and even death is occuring. At the least it is a degrading act.
