Don't you just hate it when people answer things they know nothing about? I just googled for "minimum marriage age" and the first hit was a story that Kansas for the first time is passing a minimum marriage age, which they hope to be 15 minimum.

Other states also permit marriage w/parental or judicial consent long before 17 or 18.

Some pregnant girls, and their parents, believe it is a good idea to marry. I have mixed feelings. The younger a person marries the more likely they are to divorce.

A hundred years ago, at least in rural areas, it was common to marry at 15 or so. Do we all agree girls today are less capable than they were then?

My mother married at 16, and stayed married until she died. My brother married a 16 year old, and they have been married now around 44 years.

Not in my state-Illinois. And any parent that gives permission for a 14 year old to be married, should be shot!! That is just too outrageous!

You mean a 14 year old CHILD? Why would a 14 year old child want to forfeit the rest of his/her childhood and take on all the adult responsibilities of marriage? That's just insane! Go outside and ride your bike with the other kids and maybe start thinking about marriage in about 10 more years. Childhood is gone too quickly as it is and once it's gone IT'S GONE! Enjoy that precious sweet time of being a child. You have the rest of your life to be a "grown-up!"

No. The youngest anyone can get married in any of the fifty states, or the territories, is 17 for a female and 18 for a male.
