Hell no, find a wife who makes her own money to spend :) !!!

Seriously, no, there are plenty of wonderful women who consider a successful man as all sorts of things, some of mine include:
a guy who is comfortable in his own skin
makes them laugh every day
is faithful & has same views on commitment
would make a good father
contributes to doing stuff in life whatever it might be, earning the cash, sorting the finances, house work, kids (good & bad stuff)

To be successful in a marriage, it is truly a partnership - not unlike a business, you can both be good at all sorts of things but everything needs to get done at the end of the day, regardless of who does it.

If you want a wife that can try & spend everything you earn great, I have no doubt you wont have a problem finding one of those, but she may well be lacking in some other essential qualities for a really happy life ie if you lost your high paying job/business would she still be around ............. ??? (If you already have one of those errrr sorry .... didn't mean to rub it in !!!!)

If you're being serious.... I've had 2 husbands... the first one did it wrong, and this one does it right. The right answer, for me, is a man that makes his wife feel secure- emotionally as well as physically and financially. That doesn't mean you have to make a lot, cuz we don't, but it means her knowing that you're not a jack *** with your money and know how to handle things- regardless of how much money there is to go around. Your home should be a comfortable, secure calm place to be. A successful man knows how to contribute to that.

it depends on a womans definition of success,
to me successful would mean, being a good father, making enough money to pay the bills, with a little extra so we could go out and have fun, someone who has ambition and intelligence, a good husband who is my definition of faithful ( no sex with someone behind my back because we are swingers and have an open relationship) success is what you make of it, you can be successful in many areas of your life not just the money making part. I consider my husband to be very successful, he makes enough money to support us, is a wonderful dad, he's intelligent, understanding and listens to me, and he satisfys me in all aspects of life. To me he is very successful. He doesnt have to be some high class corporate worker to be successful he satisfys my expectations, and still doesnt seem to feel like he is a success, which hurts me because to me he IS successful in many areas.

If they love each other and the union is a happy one, then yes what you suggest could make for a successful man.
There's not a lot of pleasure to be gained from being in financial need all your married life.

It is a man who can enjoy what he has achieved in life without gloating about it, a man who can be a man enough to truly love and express his love without boasting about it, and a man who can forgive whatever others may think of him or do to him for believing in himself. And no, making more money than his wife can spend makes him a loser.

A succesful man is one who knows who he is and accepts his faults and weaknesses along with his strengths. Success has absolutely nothing to do with money.
