i recently started taking birth control pills [i started taking them on the 8th of october] my period had been here for 12 days now [the last time i had sex was the 14th: 2 days after my period came which was the 12 of october ] and it's still pretty heavy flows [it started off little on the 1st week then it started to get heavy]. I also stopped eating most of the food that i use to love eating,i've been losing my appetite[completely], and losing weight..... now this is completely the opposite of the birth control side effects. Is this suppose to be normal in any way possible while im on these pills. oh yeah! and after i pop the pill into my mouth i feel like it's screwing up my insides and then i feel like $H*T.

Your body is probably just getting use to the pills. If they don't agree with your body, just try a different brand. by the way, just be lucky you're not gaining weight :D

You're right - that does not sound normal!

It does usually take a month or two for your body to get used to the pill, but if I had those symptoms I'd talk to my doctor right away - it sounds miserable!

When I started on the pill, I got my period when I was supposed to (two days after I started the 4th week of pills). The first month I had bad cramps with heavy flow (which is the way it was for me before I went on the pill), but later months the flow lightened up and the cramps were quite manageable. Compared to life before the pill, I was in heaven!

Birth control can make your period come on when it is not supposed to for the first three months (i know it sucks) make sure that you are taking it faithfully and at the same time everyday. Do you take the pill at night or in the morning? I found that taking it at night helped me to not feel sick because my stomach wasn't empty. If that doesn't work and your period doesn't stop soon talk to your dr. about switching to a lower dose pill.

i dont know about normal but the exact same thing happened to me. all of the supposed side effects were the opposite. i would have my period the 3 weeks i was supposed to be off and then stop the week i should have been on it. i have asked at least 5 different doctors about this, because i have horrible periods for "no" reason and every doctors first response is "take the pill" when i tell them what happens not one of them has been able to explain why. i have tried the pill 3 times to pacify different doctors or to prove to them im not making it up every one of them is baffled, so if you find out please let me know!!!!
