I read this book called "Nothing Last Forever" by Sidney Sheldon.. Scary in a sense that life can be so fragile and one can never guess what the other party is thinking and do to you... great book.

A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer. Scary not in the supernatural kinda sense but I found it scary that a mother would/could do such sick and cruel things to her own son.

George Orwell, Nineteen Eighty-Four. I read it at the age of 14 and the ending scared the living daylights out of me.

The Amityville Horror. I could only read it during daytime hours, and only if someone else was home.
