does that mean the battery needs to be place.This laptop is 3yrs old.

I have a pavillion, too. Go to the Hp website- they have a live chat help program. It has been VERY helpful to me!!!

Have you reinstalled the operating system. It comes with a CD restore. Also you may a problem with your hard drive. You may need to scan it and defrag it. Check for bad sectors. As for the battery it must be drained at least every month. HP usually gets components from OEM and has terrible quality control. According to an optical drive supplier of HP (I won't mentioned names, they are pissed off at DELL because they reject 40 to 50% of their deliveries to their factory in Penang Malaysia due to quality issues but they are happy with HP because they accept everything even rejects by DELL). That is why I hate my HP Presario 2175AF. I changed my battery, upgraded my memory and installed a newer version of XP. It costs me around USD250 just to keep it running. But my DELL Latitude notebook is so trouble free. I've been using it for a year now and the support is fantastic.

i know how you freel i had the same problem .what it is you have spyware. i use Acronis Privacy Expert Suite 9.0 it is free and when i scan the pc it pick up a lot of spyware i never guess i have spybot never even pick up the spyware this will fix the computer and yahoo all i did was use Acronis Privacy Expert Suite and the computer came up great remember to free up hard drive space as well this is great . go to the bottom of the page and click on the download

first of all its an hp.thats the first thing wrong with it....plug the thing in to the wall and see if there is a performence difference...if there is its the battery.
