Actually, it would be installed "loosely", as that is the adverb for the word loose, which is an adjective. Hope I didn't make you LOSE your temper.

Yes, ashleyo is right. It just goes to show that nobody's prefect. We all make mitsakes (yes, yes, I know). But I don't think the people who write lose and loose wrongly are making genuine typos; they just don't know. It does infuriate we sticklers for good grammar and spelling, doesn't it.
By the way, I think your question should be worded thusly: Why do so many people not know the difference?

I agree, but it is just Internet "lingo" as far as the punctuation for your and you're , when it comes to lose and loose, I'm sorry but there is no excuse for that one really. and that's because there is a spell check in the top right corner you' think they'd know how to use it. Oh well. It's a take it or leave it kinda thing, don't stress over something you can't fix. you'll Drive yourself mad.

I don't know but, you lossed me.. ;-) LOL! j/k Peeps need to learn the differences between 'to', 'too' and 'two', as well. And a 'modem' is not the name of every single part of a computer...LOL! What's up with that? But, the english language is the hardest language to learn. It's amazing we communicate at all! Any one word can have 5 different meanings. Most other countries; one word has one meaning. Know whaddamean?

Why don't people know the difference? They don't write proper English because they don't speak proper English.
The root cause for this is confusion and obliviousness; while many cannot understand it's as simple as the nose on the end of their faces, they also forget they have two ears and one mouth. In other words, far too many people have poorly developed, unfocused, and inattentive listening skills.
We would all benefit if we listened twice as much as we speak.

Well, English is a difficult language. At least for Americans. Nobody can figure out why the hell there's, say, two L's in the word "hell" if you only pronounce one of them, or why ee, ei, ie, ey, y can all be pronounced ee.

They're probably the same people who don't know how to use its and it's.
Cousins of the people who write alot instead of a lot.
Have you read the book Eats, Shoots and Leaves? There's also a sequel, and they're terrific.
