Think about what the question is actually asking you .....'Bad things'....'good people'.....
now think about what exactly 'bad things' mean and what exactly 'good people' mean......
now think about what 'bad things' have happened to 'good people' (and by the way how sure are you that the people involved were either good or bad - or that the bad things were naturally bad (ie by nature) or intentionally bad (ie someone did them deliberately) - now put the two together and create two scenarios - one where a deliberately 'bad' thing happened to a 'good' person (ie someone who wasn't really involved) and one where a natural 'bad' thing happened to 'good' people who were involved (ie they happened to be there at the time - like a tsunami) ...... I think you can work out how to write an essay from this now .....

This is a difficult one, and a question which some religions try to answer by mentioning either 'free will' or 'the afterlife'. They say that when God created man He gave him free will - that is the ability to choose freely what he would do - leaving him able to choose good or bad actions. So the drunk driver who kills an innocent child had a free choice over drinking and driving. In the second argument, they say that nothing which happens in this life is really important, because it is just a preparation for the next life - the one that really counts. So we shouldn't feel sad about the death of the innocent child, because he or she is headed straight for much better things in the next world. Non religious people would just say that it's all completely random - no plan, s**t just happens! Good luck with your essay.

Nice question, could take some time, however, lets keep it simple.
If there is trouble, a fight, an accident, whatever, who are the people most likely to help?
The passing motorist, the fireman, the policeman, a person in the street?
They would do everything to help others in a time of crisis.
They may even give their life to help save another.
If they got hurt, or worse, and this does happen, would this be classed as a bad thing that happened to a good person?
Hope this helps to give you some idea on what a good person really is!

Right you could say that bad things happen to good people because it is a test of their character and its all about how they cope with the situation and what positives they get from it and how they use their experience to benefit others. Only an idea

sometimes bad things happen to all people. it is noticed more when it happens to good people because people automatically feel sorry for them because they havent done anything wrong and dont deserve bad things happening to them. but bad things happening to so called bad people are shrugged off by us as being what they deserve or they had it coming to them. life is not set out in such a way as only the good or bad having misfortune.
