I had lasik about 5 years ago now. I am sooooooooooooo glad I did it. My vision was about a -8.75 before the surgery and now it is about a -.5 I am still slightly near-sighted, but it doesn't interfere with driving, for example. I do find that I have to wear correction at night...just so that it is more comfortable. But most of the time I don't use glasses at all, and if I do , they are light and fashionable glasses, not the coke-bottle bottoms I had before. I asked my optomistrist about vision deterioration, and he said that since my history is that my eyes get worse every year (since I was a child), then the fact that they are still getting worse is not a result of the surgery. It is just they are getting worse from a better place.

Additionally, I am now 46, and I do not need glasses to read. I can read at about 20/15. I see without glasses at about 20/30 right now. Compared to where I was (something like 20/1000) I say again - I am VERY happy with my surgery. I would do it again in a second!

Helen in Drake and Josh did not cross entirely blind. She most effective could not see for like 24 hours on the grounds that her eyes needed to heal after the surgical procedure or whatever. But later she used to be exceptional.

I have known a person who had it quite a bit and the surface surgery holds up pretty good but retinal surgery is hit or miss. The problem is controlling your pressure so that it holds.
