I believe I am in labor. I am having very bad pains in my stomache that kinda shoot up from my vagina through the stomache. Sitting is very uncomfortable. I feel better standing up. lol. Anyways I have been timing the pains and it seems that they are about 15-20 minutes apart right now. But consistant. Well, I guess I just want to know how far apart should they be before I go to the hospital? I have been sent home twice because of false labor and braxton hicks(after I have sat in the waiting room for ever.) So anyways, does it sound like labor to you? My baby dropped about 2 weeks ago, and I havent loss mucus or anything.

Go take a warm shower and or bath and have a light meal and drink plenty of water or juice. If this is false it will go away if not they will get stronger and closer together and last longer in duration. Try to stay home until they are about 5-7 mins apart and last about 45 seconds to a 1.5 mins. Then you have a good labor pattern and won't be sent home and active labor will set in for you. Good luck and Congrats know that you can do this, it's what you were made for.

you should ring the hospital so they can tell you what they think. It sounds like you could be, but if you go to hospital to early it could slow down. Your better off been at home as long as possible so your more comfortable, If your waters break then go to hospital, but until then you should at leased keep in contacted with the hospital by phone. Been 15-20 mins apart then you still have a while, its when they are 5 mins apart you should be heading up to the hospital, or if you are in to much pain and want drugs. I recommend having a warm but not to hot bath, it helps with the pain. I had a water birth with my first born and the bath was all I used for pain relief, of course it can get a little uncomfortable so you should try a few different things to see what works for you.
*walking, on all 4s rocking, shower is good for your back, try to get some rest if you can because you could be in labour for a long time its really hard to tell as everybody is differant.
You may not be in labour but then again you may be, ring your doctor as they know your history so they will be able to help you. Good Luck and I hope this is it. Congratulations anyway it can't be to far away.

Girl,
If you contraction are 10 to 15 minutes apart, get to the hospital. You may not see mucus plug come out or the blood yet, may have to do it in the hospital.

The pain sound like real labor to me!
Did you have a great urgency to pee or have you peed out a WHOLE LOT lately? Sometimes it seems like regular pee only more of it when your water breaks. If it's broken you want to make sure you and your baby don't get an infection.
If you are 39 weeks, don't take the chance make it to the hospital, let them decide if the baby's coming. If your wrong they can send you home, but I think the baby is ready and you should go
NOW!!!!
Take care and I'll say a prayer for you and your baby.

Just call the doctor, they will tell you what they want you to do. Normally contractions should be 5 minutes apart consistently for at least 30 minutes.

To see if they are braxton hicks, try walking. Many times this will stop braxton hicks contractions but will speed up real contractions. Try walking around your house for a little while and see if they get closer together. If they do you can then go to the hospital and they will see if you are dilating. If you are then they will keep you most likely.

Good luck and congrats!!

I know from having my 1st child that its embarassing to go to the er every time you think your in labor but go b/c its not worth the chance. I had similar pains w/ my baby and I htought i would just wait and sit a while through them and ended up having my water break and i was 38 weeks pregnant. My contractions didnt get close at anytime during the 45 minute ride to the hospital but I ended up having my son 17 hrs later. Hope you all the luck in the world and use your own judgement cause you know your body best.

Are you breathless yet when the contrx come? I knew mine was real when they started coming and it kinda radiated aruond and I had to stop to breathe through them......

Mine were 10-20 mins apart off and on for 30 hours and I was stuck in early labor.

BUT normally for your first baby they advise you to wait til your contractions are like 4-6 mins apart for an hour and when they last about a minute long each time....

I ended up giong in and being sent home once when I was in early labor but after 30 hours they gave me pitocin cause i was just stuck....

If you ever have the feeling like you have to poop and like you need to bear down - get to the hospital ASAP... but most 1st timers don't go that quick....

Just call your on call doc at your OB and they usually can tell you what they think if you should go in. If you dont have an on call doc or something then you can go in to labor and delivery if you cant handle it anymore. But I would personally try and stay home for as long as possible because it seems to hurt more when you are laying down - pressure on your spine and laying on side doesn't help.... once you are admitted you can usually wander around but its more stressful usually then being at home where yuo are comfortable.

Good luck and good labor vibes coming your way :)

Honestly, I had no idea myself what it would be like, or if the contractions I was having for 3 weeks were the actual labor...and ended up going to the hospital once and sent home. What I can tell you so this doesn't happen.... you will not be able to sit, stand, or anything when you are in active labor. When it's too hard to even talk, you will know its time to go to the hospital. Hope this helps! Goodluck and congrats!!!! :)

Well if you havent lost your mucus plug it might be false this is how you know pace up and down your hallway for 15 or 20 mintues if the pains continue coming then go to the hospital. Dont worry about how many times you get sent home I was sent home 6 times before it was the real thing! Congradulations!

Could be labor. Real labor will not stop with rest so if you are resting and it's still going on it could very well be labor. Are they getting stronger, another sign real labor. Real labor usually stops you in your tracts and takes your breath away. The contractions usually last about 11/2 minutes. Wait until they are about 7 minutes apart to go to hospital. Just remember you are able to handle everything that is going to happen, just relax and let it happen naturally. Good Luck!

My doc said wait til pains were 5 to 6 minutes apart. The hospital was 20 minutes away. Just so you know- by that time it is NO FUN to be in the car- you might think about going while you can still walk.
