they're about $5. Wait, is it an acoustic guitar? And the guitar strings usually come in a pack.

hey, dont worry about it too much, strings are easily replaceable. the cost of strings can vary, but ive seen them range from 4 to 12 dollars, you just have to pay attention to what your getting. Since you said you have bronze colored strings i would assume that would be an acoustic guitar, and the strings might be placed differently. It does matter what type of strings they are, brand wise not neccessarily, but you dont wanna get cheap strings cause you'll end up breaking them, but you need to pay attention to the different gauges of strings. you do not want to get a heavier guage, without modifying the nut, because it is a very likely possibility it will break (i just broke mine not to long ago). I don't know about a tape or cd, but I'm sure there is so your local music store would probably be best ot find out, and they can also help let you know about all the different guages, tuners, even restring an tune it for you. i don't know if its possible to buy just one string, but i dont think you have to worry about it since you said the guitar was new, but most of the time when you have to replace one string its best to replace them all, because youre tone will be brighter on one string and not on the others. Hope this helps

Guitar strings vary in price. Numbers 1 to 3 (these are the fine strings from bottom no. 1 being the lowest position if you are right handed) Here in the Philippines strings are available even in variety stores and vary in price from 4 pesos up. Strings nos. 4 to 6, fourth, fifth and sixth from the bottom are costlier, and may range from 20 pesos up to more than a hundred each. What number did you break? Branded strings, of course cost a lot more. (Fender, Gibson or Gretsch are the high priced ones but last longer and sound super.) For tuning, there are several cds you can buy at music shops but if you are able to buy strings for your guitar, I suggest you ask a guitar playing friend to tune it for you for the meantime.

You can buy just one string at your local music store,If you go to wallmart ,you have to buy a whole pack.If you can sneak out the guitar, they guy at the music store will put 1 string on for you and probably tune it real quick too ,especially if you tell him this sad story that i heard. If not , then memorize what string is missing (example- 3rd string down from the fattest one) and he'll know which one that is.Tell him to just give you normal thickness for that kind of guitar(acoustic or electric).Put it on and tighten it so it's just a little looser than the one next to it and tell your brother that you tried to tune it and he'll never know you broke it.
If you want to tune. the cheapest way is a pitch pipe( its a thing you blow in and you tune to the sound)but it's easier to buy a chromatic tuner. I've seen them for about 20 bucks. You just pick the string and make the dot in the middle light up for each string.
Strings are(Starting with the Fattest one)E,A,D,G,B,E
a single string is usually a couple bucks.Packs are usually bogo free.Which comes to about 4 bucks a pack. It's cheaper to buy packs.I buy 3 packs for 9.99 and 10 pack for 35.00. Thats brand name strings . They make cheaper ones that are 10 packs for 19.99.
Don't stress out on all the technical stuff.Just follow what I said and you'll be fine.

they only cost a couple a dollars but i think it depends on which string for the actual price....just take the guitar to a music store that sells guitars and someone will help you more and put on the string
