A St. Bernard. I have a Lab and I like big dogs, they are protective and love able. My neighbors have daschunds and they are always barking.

I'd prefer a dof the size of a lab or german shepherd. I don't like really small dogs and I don't want a dog as big as a St. bernard either.

I'm crazy about my sweet black lab/german pointer mix, but I doubt that I'll have another large dog again. I've moved a few times since I got her and some neighborhoods/landlords won't accept large dogs. Vet bills are alittle higher along with flea drops and heartworm pills. Years ago, I had a daschund/beagle mix and he was a cool dog. I miss having a smaller dog to pick up and sit on my lap.

Small. My dog is little (mini schnauzer), and I like the fact he's little because I can pick him up if goes off looking for trouble. My dog thinks he can scare other dogs, and will often try to fight! He has no idea who little and cute he is. I always have to pick him up to make sure he doesn't try fighting any dogs.

I also like small dogs because you can hold them. I have my dog in my lap all the time...it's relaxing to have him there in my lap while I sit reading or by the fire.

One more good thing is small dogs alert you of danger without being yippy yappy. My dog always gives me a little bark of a warning if somebody (an intruder to him!) comes near the house. It's handy!

A couple more things:

- small dogs are easier to groom or pay someone else to groom because it's less money

- small dogs are easier to feed and it's cheaper

- small dogs are generally better with children

- small dogs live a LONG time (14-16 years!)

St. Bernard for sure. I have a Lab/Rott. mix. And I love having a big dog! Love it!! He's so much fun. Those little dogs seem to always be barking or under my feet!

I would take the daschund. I can't deal with very large dogs. They knock me down.A boxer is as large as I get.

I love all animals, but I have three rat terriers (small and short haired) and three cats, so I'd have to go with the smaller size. They can hang around the house with little mess and love to cuddle.
