I don't want to spend any money. So any tips on how I can just concoct my own costume?

one year i was the tinman from wizard of oz. my dad spraypainted a box silver and put on a red heart. he cut out holes for my head and my legs. then i got a funnel and covered it with aluminum foil and attached it to my head with bobby pins. i wore grey leggings and silver shoes. it was the best costume ever. it cost probably 10 dollars and everyone loved it!

Zombie: If you have $3-$5 dollars to spend and you want to be something scary, you could buy some black, green, and white face paint, put on some old clothes, and go as a zombie. You black out your eyes with the black paint and add some of the green to the white to give it a greenish tinge and put it on your face.
Headless person: If you have a large trenchcoat-type jacket you can button it up, put a stick inside it across the shoulders, then put it over you so the stick sits across the top of your head.

You can wear a fuzz robe with slippers, hair in pins and face cream = housewife
pajamas, a stuff animal, apint your cheeks rosy with freckles and add a sucker or pacifier = toddler/baby
wear a sport jersey=go as a team player
white sheet = a ghost

im goin to be an umpa lumpa go to good will eww i know but you have to spend a few bucks unless you have white over alls and a red and white shirt

Do you live in the south? Paint or pin a large letter P to your shirt and make your eye black with make-up. (you are a black eyed pea)

you could go to the dollar store and buy a pack of purple balloons. blow them up, put them on you, and where a green hat. VOILA! your grapes :)
