Dude. Don't you dare. You will regret it for the rest of your life. If you dont' even know what the opperation is called, why are you considering even having it done?

You young fool! Give yourself time to grow!

Well, as all the others have already said, the procedure you are talking about is called a vasectomy. How expensive it is depends on the doctor and how much your insurance is going to pay- but the usual price varies from $700 and up most usually. You will not find a doctor willing to do it for you, at your age, though. The soonest at doctor would even discuss it with you would be after you have turned 18, and can give an adult consent. Even then, I can't imagine a doctor being willing until you are closer to 30 or so, or have children already.
In answer to the question does it hurt- well duh, yes! They will give you a shot in the scrotum for starters, and afterwards you will feel like you've been kicked you know where, cause in many ways you have. It hurts for a good week afterwards, and you will have to curtail physical activities for up to 6 weeks after the surgery.
Though it's admirable that you don't want to be a father, especially given your age- you can't know what your mind will be in even another 10 years. Parenthood is not attractive right now, nor should it be. But given another 10 or so years, and a steady relationship with the love of your life, and your ideas may just change. In the meantime, there are less radical methods to prevent fatherhood. As corny as it sounds, just not having sex is an excellent method- which will also protect you from sexually transmitted disease as well. Using a condom, while not perfect, is also a good choice. Although a female partner can use birth control, depending on that can be iffy- expecially if you are talking a teenaged partner. But the solution you are proposing is rather a radical solution with far reaching consequences, and too permanent a choice to make at your current age. For right now, perhaps you should consider the other two options I gave you and just see what the future brings. Never burn a bridge until you can be absolutely certain you won't need it to cross the river again.

It's called a Vasectomy... Most often it will not be preformed until you are over 21... Depending on your insurance the surgery can cost you as little as a copay and as much as a few thousand dollars...

Recovery time is 1-2 days longer if there is a complication or infection..

Having a Vasetomy does not protect you against sexually transmitted diseases and is not 100% guarenteed to work..

You would be far better off using condoms as a form of birth/disease control leaving your option of producing a child open until you are at least 30.. Vasectomys are not always reversible should you change your mind better to not make such a perminant change until you have had time to mature fully into an adult and make the decision based on information you will gain during your 20's...

At 16 you may think it's the best idea in the world but what happens when you turn 28 and decide you have met the woman of your dreams and you want to have children... A dr. could tell you "I am sorry your Vasectomy is non reversible that is not an option." Better to leave the option open and use condoms until you are quite a bit older and completely positive about what you want...

Heck if you are very concerned about impregnating someone double up on the condoms so if one malfunctions you still have the other protecting you...

read this and be sure to click the blue words to learn about things you may not understand the technical term for..

It's called a vasectomy. It usually involves the severing and sealing of the tube that supplies sperm to your seminal fluid.

I don't know how old you have to be. I imagine it would depend on your history and how many children you've already fathered. And, importantly, why you want to have it done. I imagine that no one would perform it on a minor regardless of the reason.

You could go to your local Planned Parenthood and speak to a healthcare provider there so they can explain the risks and the limitations of the surgery. I really doubt you'd be able to have it done without a very good reason (they are hard to reverse) even for a while after you're 18, so Planned Parenthood will probably be the best place for you to learn about your birth control alternatives.

Edit: And, yes, it is reversable, but it's not always easy to reverse. The success of the reversal depends on how long since the vasecectomy (ranges from 70-97% chance of opening the tube). If you manage to have it reversed, actually being able to get a woman pregnant is also based on how long since the original proceedure with success rates ranging from 30-75%.

Its a vasectomy. When you turn 18 you can get it done. Its your body and your choice, no one can tell you otherwise. Some doctors may tell you that you can't do it that your too young, but its really your decision. Just tell them would they rather you have kids and not want them, or not have kids and be happy.

I'm not sure how much it costs but there are different ways to do it. One I believe completely removes the balls(but most guys don't want that one) and the other just cuts the areas to keep any sperm from getting through. But it requires you to wait a certain amount of time before having sex because some sperm may still be in there and can still get a girl pregnant.

Why would you make such a drastic decision at such a young age? What if you change your mind, find the right girl in your 20's or 30's, and desperately want a child. If you go through with a vasectomy, the cost of adoption, at least here in Wisconsin through agencies starts at $32,000 and that's if the child has no birth defects, surgeries, serious illnesses, etc. You're better of using protection until you're old and wise enough to use better judgement.

If you really dont want kids, do it. My husband did it this year and it really dont hurt . He said everyone hyped it up. It was more scary up until the day. He got there and they did the procedure and he was up later that day, Driving the car because he did not want to stay home. He had the surgery on Friday and back to work on Monday. He was also back to having sex three days later. Not that I recommend that. The doctor said to wait a week. We couldn't. I think the cost is somewhere between $1000.-2000. Well worth it. Kids cost more than that. I know I have three. Good luck.

I don't know if you know this or not but for men, this procedure can be easily reversed. It takes like an hour or 2 to do and you are up and out of the doc's office walking around the same day. I do agree with the other users that you should wait until you are older to make this decision. You are too young and they wouldn't allow for it anyways. In the meantime, I suggest you just use protection!

The usual price for a vasectomy is between $450-700 without insurance. HOWEVER...you're only 16, with no children, I presume. You will never find a doctor willing to perform this procedure until you are at least 30 or have children already.

Its called a Vasectomy. The Dr's will probably not perform the surgery until you are way older.I needed a total abdominal hysterectomy at 31 and they were all worried about me wanting more children and what if one of my kids died.I have 3 kids. Most likely they will not do it until you have kids or are old enough (40 something) to not want any.

It is called a vasectomy.

Why would you want to get it done?

What if you want to have kids later on?

Even if you don't want kids now your life will go through big changes for the next 10 years.

What if you meet a young women that you marry and she wants to have kids. You can reverse a vasectomy if you decide but that isn't healthy to have alot of operations like that.
