I was wondering if the Xbox will accept a wireless signal or if I will actually have to run an ethernet cable into my living room.

Yes.
You can connect the internet to a wireless router. You do not have to buy the Microsoft made adapter for $100.00. Linksys has a wireless game adapter that works with any internet connectable system. They range to about $75-90.

Yes it will work with wireless router but you have to buy the wireless internet adapter that costs about 99 dollars Mine is hooked up via wireless router and it works great.
