It's okay. I think Yfly.com is better. You have to download something to use imvu.

When I first got it last summer I loved it but lately it is a big fat pain. It is a memory pig and you need allot of memory to get the 3d window to work. it worked great for me till they brought in the furniture. Now I can't get the windows to stay open. They take soooooooooo Looooooonnnnnggggg to llllooooaaaaaadddddload
It is just too bad coz I like it but there are still bugs and I end up sending in more error reports than playing in the rooms.
I hope it gets better. It is in BETA testing so they have much to fix before it will work for all.
I hope you have better luck with it than I do.
