I'm just curious, 'cause I seem to get canker sores a LOT for no resaon, and I think maybe my saliva is a little more acidic than normal. I just want to compare my saliva's Ph to normal (I'm probably going to do some type of litmus test, I think, I'm not quite sure, but I'll know when I see it, lol!)

The average pH of saliva is around neutral- 7.4.

If you're worried about your saliva's pH, you can buy strips or kits online to check your saliva and see if it's around normal. If you drink a lot of basic things, like milk, or acidic things, like lemon juice, it will affect your pH.

Here's some info on canker sores "Anyone can get canker sores, but women people in their teens and 20s get them more often. Canker sores may run in families, but they aren't contagious. Doctors don't know what causes canker sores, but they may be triggered by stress, poor nutrition, food allergies and menstrual periods."

Check out this website. It has this info I just quoted as well as info on what to do to treat the sores and how to prevent them.

your saliva averages the same pH as anyone else, depending of course on what you just ate or drank. the canker sores (aphthous ulcers) have nothing to do with pH. good luck with the litmus though ~

I'm thinking acidic because that hydrocloric acid is in our stomachs to digest food . just a guess, but i would say higher ph than neutral which i think is ph 7

. that acidic excess could cause canker sores which are like ulcers that you can get in your stomach. take that litmus test, and you'll know for sure. I may have that ph plus or minus backwards!LOL!

THE Ph OF HUMAN BLOOD IS NORMALLY 7.62. THE BODY HATES TO CIRCULATE ACID. IT STEALS CALCIUM FROM THE BONES TO NEUTRALIZE ACID. YOU SHOULD FIND YOUR SALIVA TO BE SLIGHTLY ALKALINE - AS LONG AS YOUU HAVEN'T JUST SUCKED ON A LEMON. LOL
