I know that slavery is bad. What's negative other than the fact that slaves were captured? How did it affect anything having to do with Africa?

It's estimated that well over 50 million "blacks" (men, women and children) died during the middle passage, (the three week to three month voyage to the Western Hemisphere). When those that survived the middle passage arrived in the America's they were DEHUMANIZED, MURDERED, LYNCHED, MUTILATED, BURNED ALIVE, AND TORTURED.

The ships were to filthy that it was hardly suitable for pigs. They were lock away in total darkness and cramp so tightly one barely had room to move. then many were sick and being this close to sick people for month lead to a outbreak. A untreated one I might add with is why so many died on that trip.

As I'm typing I realize there is only negative effects to the slave trade. In fact I can not think of anything good to say.

What was not negative about the slave trade?

The African tribes sold their enemy tribesmen and women to the slave traders. The traders chained these people up and took them across he ocean against their will. They arrived and were looked over the way people choose animals for breeding or work. They were then beaten and forced to work for nothing more than food and horrible living conditions.

Take care,
Troy

As an Anglosaxon, none of my ancestors were involved in this (to the best of my knowledge).

My answer ... It was (is) wrong ... All wrong!

However, one must also consider the time period. People were not educated and many of those who were still believed in a Flat Earth and Sea Monsters!

It was (is) not unlike the male dominated society of today. Women are gaining but they have not yet attained equallity.

How sad!

The fact that it was slavery already makes it a negative.
