Players get a plus 1 if they're on the ice when their team:
1. Scores a goal at even strength.
2. Scores a goal while short-handed, i.e., while killing a penalty.

Players get a minus 1 if they're on the ice when their team:
1. Is scored upon at even strength.
2. Is scored upon while on the power play.

No pluses or minuses are given if a goal is scored by the team on the power play. Hope that helps!

You add up all the pluses and minuses for every goal, if applicable, and then you end up with the player's total plus/minus for the game.

When an even-strength goal is scored, each member of the scoring team who was on the ice at the time, except the goaltender, gets a "plus", and each member of the team that allowed the goal who on the ice, except the goaltender, gets a minus.

It doesn't apply to power play or short handed goals

You get 1 plus everytime your team scores when you're on the ice, and 1 minus everytime the other team scores when you're on the ice.

Above answer is actual, different than power play objectives for, or against, do no longer count quantity in the direction of, or against, a participant's +/-. i've got faith, that vacant internet objectives and shorthanded objectives count quantity. meaning that if a team scores shorthanded, they receive a +a million, and the competition gets a -a million. it extremely is extremely of an inflated statistic. via fact a participant gets a greater robust score (or worse) via fact of team play. in spite of everything, all people on the ice is affected. that's a foul stat to benefit participant's offensive or protecting features.
