Most tampons come with instructions in the box. However, I shall tell you what to do:
1. Buy regular-sized tampons. I recommend Playtex Beyond.
2. Wash your hands.
3. Sit on the toilet and take the tampon out of it's wrapper.
4. Insert the tampon's applicator into your vagina. Push it inside you, angling it slightly towards your back.
5. Push the inner, back part of the applicator into the top part of the applicator. This will release the tampon.
6. Pull the applicator out and wash your hands again.
7. Wear a pantiliner. That way, if the tampon leaks, it won't get your underwear bloody.
8. If you are worried about other girl's seeing, be sure to tuck the tampon's string into your panties before getting dressed!
I hope my instructions made sense.

This can be embarrasing. I had exactly the same problem when I was 12. I would recommend two options:
1. Get one of the ultra-thin pads. They really aren't visible, even though you can feel them. Don't tell anyone, or make a big deal about it, and they won't notice. I would avoid the "long" pads - they are really noticeable to the wearer's sense of touch, which makes you think everyone else can notice (even though they don't).
2. Try a tampon. Playtex (only brand I'm familiar with) has directions included in the box, with pictures for how to use them. I recommend Platex - they come in small sizes (for "light flow"), which are physically smaller; they also come with plastic applicators, which might be more comfortable for your begining uses.
I would note that if you get the tampon in, but it is painful to actually push it all the way in, it might be due to your hymen being intact. I had this problem when I was 12 - it hurt like hell. About a year later, it was no problem. But, if you've been involved with some sports (gymnastics, horseback riding, etc.), it might have broken even without sex. This isn't the dark ages - a girl's hymen being intact or not has nothing to do with virginity.

I don't think you should wear tampons. You are young so I would suggest wearing pads but the thin ones so the other girls won't see it. Don't worry, alot of girls go through this. But still I wouldn't suggest you wearing tampons, get some thin pads and stick to those for a couple of years. Tampons can be bad for you.

if you are too afraid to try a tampon, just wear a pd, i doubt other girls will be looking at your butt! If you are worried about changin, change in a closed off area or toilet stall!
If you want to try tampons, i suggest you try playtex gentle glide. Thats what i used when i first started wearing them. Just the little ones, like junior or light flow! and there are instructions in the box! But always remember to take it out! Maybe if you even just wear it for gym class then take it out!
I was just like you when i was your age, i had my period for a year before i started wearing tampons!
Good Luck!

Try a tampon with a rounded plastic applicator. Take deep breaths and try to relax when you put it in, it won't hurt but it could be uncomfortable if it is inserted incorrectly. Wear a pantyliner as back-up. Try reading the directions that come in the tampon box, it might help. Use a pad and wear baggy shorts if you need to...

Well, considering there are many types of pads, you could just wear one tomorrow that is thin, yet long to be sure to catch your flow for sure. Because you are new with using a tampon, you should take your time with learning how to insert and dispose of them first. Take your time. Things will work out.

Hi! well honestly wearing a tampon is not a big deal no matter how old u are...its not hard to figure out either...just make sure that as u insert it that it goes deep enough to feel comfortable because if its not deep enough u will leak and it could be painful! plus u should wear a panty-liner just in case! good luck!

I know how you feel i went thought something like that. you should do what ever is comfortable. If you decide to use a tampon read the directions. its not a big deal if you were a pad and if you do were long pants or capries.
