What's the common sense in cutting taxes and then taking a pay raise that paid for by taxes?

1 has nothing to do with the other. There is overwhelming evidence that cutting tax rates boosts the economy thus increasing tax revenues.
Whether or not those pay raises are deserved is another matter. Good question, but another matter.

Yes, sad that "we the people" only get to vote them in and out every 2 or 6 years !!

Would be NICE if there could be a referendum that would allow the citizens to force congress to work a minumum 5 day week, and also to set their salary on a performance basis.

Or tie their salaries to the median wage ?

ALSO... WTF with Congress getting their salaries even after they are voted out ?? Can someone give me factual data on this ??

If you get a raise, your taxes on that raise will be less than the amount of the raise since your tax liability is a percentage of your income. I can't see why you would say that the raise is paid for by taxes, unless you work for the government which is funded by tax money.

Wouldnt you? You make the people happy by cutting taxes to help make sure your re-elected, then give yourself a raise. I would do the same if I was able to. Come to think of it "Vote for me" for congress. "I am not a crook".
