log into the router, update the firmware, and reapply your settings.

I have had similar problems with my Netgear router..... computer just hangs while rebooting and if I pull out the power cord from the back of the router and hit the restart button, it will load. My geek friend says it's most likely a 'technology problem' - you might try seeing if there are upgrades to your NIC card.... but if it's just a 'b' router - may be time to upgrade to a b/g.....

It's funny though because my laptops have no problem connecting - can't help but think it's a compatibility issue between the router and the desktop NIC card..... it's a thought......

Not sure EXACTLY what the problem is... I HAVE upgraded firmware - so may be just older technology..... Your problem is NOT uncommon as my geek friend was familiar with the problem..... his only fix was to update the router.... technology changes...
