to ask a teacher for a pad when you get your period during school? I don't always feel comfortable going to the nurse. What would you say to the teacher?

That's not dumb at all. As long as you feel comfortable asking the teacher then I see no problem.

Just simply say, if the teacher is a male "It's that time of month and I've got to go to the restroom really quick." If it's a female teacher then your in luck, Just simply tell her you are on your period and you need to go and fetch a pad/tampon. I highly suggest that you always have a few in your locker in case one of your friend leak out of the blue and they need an emergency pad. Plus it's super handy for you. If you are in middle school - high school you can go over to your P.E. lockers department and ask the female coach's for a pad, of course they'll charge you if they didn't I don't think they'd have enough money to give out free tampons and pads. But the good part is it's probably at most 25-50 cents.

I would recommend going to the nurse whether you enjoy doing so or not. Typically, record is kept over anything medical (including going to the nurse's office for a pad) and that's not a bad thing. You are better off going down to the nurse, as your teacher may send you there anyway if you ask her.

I think that they have them readily available at the nurse's office (like in boxes). Why ask the teacher, you would think that would be more akward. I am a teacher and I don't carry any extra on me. It's not dumb to ask, but I think it's just easier to just go to the nurse and obtain them without everyone knowing what you are doing.

I usually asked a friend. We didn't have a nurse. I know dumb right? Isn't that something a school should have? Anyhoo, since your asking you must feel pretty comfortable with this teacher so go for it!

I would just go to the nurse anyway, or ask a friend. Why not keep some pads in your locker so they're there when you need them? Your teacher will probably just tell you to go to the nurse.

No, it's not dumb. You have to do what you have to do.

"I don't always feel comfortable going to the nurse."
- It sounds like you've done this several times? If you have your period, why don't you just keep a small pouch of them in your backpack/bag?

And if you know any friends who have pads/tampons, why not ask them?

just politely ask her if yr teacher had a pad
and if not
then go ask the nurse or a friend
or always keep a smal bag of pads in yr locker
and a pad in whatever you carry

"Do you happen to have any monthly provisions? I don't want to go to the nurse."

It's a good idea to devise your own plan to keep an extra one stashed in your backpack, purse or whatever and NOT use it unless you get surprised by starting off schedule. I kept an extra pad and tampon in a small makeup bag that I kept in my bookbag and then when I needed it, it was there. You just have to remember to replace your supply. If the guys find it, so what? They will be dealing with it someday when they are married anyway. Another good idea, my mom taught me this, on the day you start, put your initial on the calendar and circle it, just small in the corner, then count up 28-30 days ahead so you can estimate when your next cycle is, then you can prepare. Welcome to womanhood

Well, I certainly hope it's a female teacher. Had to add that.
Actually why don't you keep track of your cycle or certainly be aware of your body, headaches, cramps, sore breast and you should know when your period is due and be prepared yourself.
OK, back to asking the teacher. I wouldn't. That is what the nurse if for.
