I missed about 4 days of birth control. And no, it's not because I'm irresponsible. I was suppose to start my period next Thursday, and I was wondering, that since I have missed so many days if it would go ahead and make my period start. I had some cramping today and some bleeding, but not heavy. I just figured that it was my period and that was why.

Do you guys have any ideas?

I'm taking Lo Ovral, and yes, I know that people on here aren't doctors. And I just stopped taking them. I would love to get pregnant. And yes I am married.

You probably triggered an early period by missing so many days. The period you get while on the pill is not like the period you get when you are ovulating. The pill suppresses ovulation. On the monthly cycle pills, there may be days when you take a placebo pill (sometimes an iron pill) that does not contain hormones. You will then have withdrawal bleeding during that time. The rest of the time, the hormones in the pill mimic pregnancy, blocking the hormone cycle that would normally cause an egg to ripen and be released during the course of a month. Since you are now a little off on your cycle, I would advise being even more careful about having unprotected sex for the next month or two.

Women sometimes take the hormone-containing birth control pills for extended periods, because they do not want to have a monthly period. This has led to the development of products like Seasonale, where you only have a period four times a year.

I wouldn't freak out. It's probably because you missed 4 pills this is what I do and I know because I've missed pills before take two pills each day for 2 days and then you should be fine.

usually if you miss that many days, then your period would come, especially since you were so close to your period. it's most likely your period.
