Im on ortho-tricyclen and on my first pack me and my boyfriend used a back-up method with it as said in the intructions. Then on the first day on my second pack after taking my pill we had sex without a back up method. Was this dangerous to do?

You should be fine. I'm on ortho-tricyclen too, and my instructions said that you could have sex without a backup method after two weeks. I've been on it a year without a backup method and it's worked so far.

It's safer than nothing at all, but it's always a much better idea to use a back up method (i.e. condom or diaphragm) because of the very small failure rate. This nearly eliminates pregnancy when you use more than one method together. I used one and I still became pregnant! Just know that and good luck!

the pill should be in your system a good 3 months prior to having sex without any other type of contraception. although i dont recommend doing this. I got pregnant twice while on pill....but I was married

i think of you may take different preventative measures as nicely, like use a condom for the 1st week. telephone your community medical institution or the surgical technique and communicate with a nurse just to verify, in case you needed. i think of your physician could have made it clearer to you, if the leaflet would not quite say. it would desire to get into your gadget to truly sidestep you getting pregnant, so does no longer artwork in one day. xx

Your pill pamplet will tell you 7 days (in north america or the uk) or 14 days (austrailia). So yes, you were protected from pregnancy.

For most it would be after you start the second month. Talk to a doc. or a nurse.
