i can pull up the page, sign in, and then nothing. i just downloaded this, so mayme i'm doing sothing totally wrong. looks that way, huh?

It sounds like you need to UN-install it. Then reinstall it again. It could be corrupted somehow....God knows...it's Windows.

I think I can help you. One easy solution would be for you to totally delete it, and then to download your messenger once again. That is the easiest and what I highly recommend to you. Another thing that you can do is to close your messenger from your icon by using the right-click method. Afterwards you would then click on the start button, where you will see the all programs button. From there you will be able to see your messenger that you are using. You click on it to open it up. Hopefully all will be restored. If not then perhaps you will have to close your computer and re-start it, and hopefully it will work. If all else fails then simply delete it and then download it. It should work this time.

Try restarting your comp..sometimes I cant get in and I just do a hard restart and bammo!...you can try cycling your modem too..just unplug it for 30 seconds and plug back in and restart...also, like the others said, your firewall may be set too high.

If it's yahoo messenger you're talking about, I'd downgrade to the previous version, I had problems much like yours.

uninstall and reinstall..but first uninstall shut down your computer, reboot and then reinstall and go from there. you may be missing something on your computer like micromedia for audio sound or flash. you may need to do some upgrades.
