Uhm, no. If this person has that type of feelings for you and any kind of history with you, you owe it to them to at least tell them to their face. It'll perserve their feelings a little and your dignity quite a bit.

My friend got a break up email and it tore her up... just the fact the guy couldn't say what things needed to be said face to face... say it in person... is not that hard... hope this helps
