fender, peavey it sounds like you are just starting out so maybe it would be a good idea to get a bass package, you can get these for relatively cheap on zzsounds.com or music123, these usually come with a bass+amp+tuner+strap and dvd. you can get a decent fender package for just around $200,check it out hope this helps, personally i play guitar but my son plays bass and those two sites have been pretty good to us

Trace Elliot is best,Then Ampeg, then Hartke. If your tight on money, Behringer offers a great deal on Bass amps.Peavey is not the best choice for bass amps. How many rock stars do you see using Peavey bass amps?Trace elliots are tight and punchy.very responsive with a perfectly tuned port and an awesome setup for tayloring your own personal sound. Ampeg will take a litte longer to dial something in, and you'll be adjusting it a little at every gig. It's all about the contour and EQ to get a good sound, stand apart and cut through. I spent alot of time playing all these bass amps.I'm not just going by what someone says. The peavey and the behringer are equal, but the behringer is a lower cost.
