The most recent one big enough to leave a crater was 55 years ago. The crater is 27 metres in diameter and is called Sikhote-Alin. it is in Russia, nearly at its east coast beside Japan.

Here is an interesting one! Go to google earth and download the free global map. It's a big planet Earth you can rotate and zoom all the way to street level. On the main screen look for the latitude longitude altitude information line and go to the following coordinates.

51 24 37 N 68 43 14 W Alt 560 mi Quebec Canada
35 01 44 N 111 01 13 W Alt 29 mi Arizona
19 10 50 S 127 44 55 E 51500 Ft Australia

more more impact craters go to http://www.unb.ca/passc/ImpactDatabase/

Enjoy!

As others have said, small ones hit many times a day. There was a medium size one that made news a few weeks ago that hit Norway. At first it was thought to have caused a crater, but none was found. The one that made meteor crater in Arizona hit about 50,000 years ago.

Metorites are hitting the earth every second.

Most are so small that we have no notice of them.

Ones large enough to notice happen several times a year.

It gets hit every day. The last 'big' one that hit was up in Sibera in the early 1900's. Look up 'Tunguska'.
