Since the British controlled the area at one time they probably were the first to drill for oil there. Kuwait is still under British control and that's where BP (British Petroleum) gets it's oil from. Any place that used to be swamps in the past will have large amounts of oil and coal now.

its a rich source youre right about that. but we have more here in america. its just cheaper to collect it there in the middle east. they just found a well in the gulf of mexico that makes the middle east look like a oil spot in a driveway . but it cost more to refine and pump it out in america. the labor cost is high here . we buy from there cause its cheap . i hate to hear it when people think we are waring over oil when we have way more here in america its a fact look it up . alaska texas oklahoma . we save our own oil here . but i wish we could all live without it . but i wouldnt have a job . but anyway if its rich in petro . it means lots of dinosaurs died there .
