You have to have suspence!!! What else is there than to make you want to read? Books with real charactors in it help too. You can have the most realistic people and even if they could time travel it would still seem believable to you if told right. If you're looking for a good read I really suggest The Redmption of Althalus by Liegh Eddings. The main charactor is amazing as well as all the others. It has a great story line and will keep you entertained till the end... I've read it three times and would read it again!

A good author should lead you by the hand along the path but leave space and time for you to look around!

I like an author that writes just enough words to tell the story, but still leaves a lot to my imagination.

I admire a good author who can, not only put words on paper that transition with ease, but also use words to formulate meanings or values. These meanings can either be outright or between the lines.

Someone who's writing seems believable... Not that the story can't be fictional or fantasy, but that the characters and their thoughts and dialogue sound realistic, not too over-the-top with big words, and not too plain or with too many slang words.

I like a really good plot that's not totally predictable and great character development. Good writing and good editing.

and sometimes when you decide to write, you seem to find that their writing style has affected yours.
