I started noticing that my eyes were cahnging..just taking a little longer to focus in on the mocroawave clock, ect..went to the eye Dr and he said he would write me a prescription..or I could go to Wal Mart..CVS...and get the 1.25 reading glasses..he said that I had just joined the ranks of those over 40 who's eyes are loosing the ability to focus quickly..it has been a few years now and I have graduated to the 1.50 glasses..and working great for me...plus at the prices they are I can have several pairs to match different outfits or occasions

You can buy the reading glasses anywhere without a prescription, but, it would be a better idea to pay the money (usually under $30) to have a real eye exam. It may turn out that all you need ARE "readers", but, it's better to know for sure that your eyes don't need something different. This is too important to mess around with!

The reading glasses from a store or pharmacy will not harm your eyes - but they might not be what you really need, and only a professional eye exam can make that determination.

If your eye doctor says it's okay, go ahead and buy the el cheapo Wal Mart reading glasses. But if your vision has changed quickly so you need the glasses, you'll want to get a full eye exam first; there may be something else wrong. The wrong glasses won't really harm you, but they will give you eyestrain and possibly headaches!

i think they need to be perscribed

walmart has a vision center that will check your vision, even for reading glasses, and make you a pair in a weeks time.

there are some stores in the malls and stuff that can make reading glasses lenses in one hour.

did they make the screen look sharper ? reading glasses are for up close, computer glasses focus out further. Are you sitting up close ? get an eye exam, Costco is $45 I think. then you will know for sure.

I would talk to your optometrist, sometimes getting more expensive glasses is worth the money.
