i know for a fact that star wars is taken from a particular myth.

there is a myth where someone decides to kill their father, much like skywalker did with darth vader.

does anybody know what myth this is from?

The creation myth. Oceanus and Gaea beget Cronus, Rhea, etc. Cronus tears off the genitals of Oceanus and creates sea foam from them. Then he kills Oceanus. Rhea eventually turn against Cronus and his minions, along with their children, including Zeus. Zeus then rules the world.

well, oedipus killed his father and married his mother (unknowingly). leia isn't luke's mother, but she's his sister and he had a little thing for her. maybe this is what it's from.
