I have been watching the show "Heroes" and love it, but I am confused about a certain character. After reading several post about possible show outcomes, I have seen several mentions of a character named "Sylar." Which person on the show is Sylar? Is it the artist?

I am not sure if it is Sylar or Skylar but that is supposed to be the bad guy, assumed to be Claire's stepfather. I don't know if Sylar is bad or not but the police are thinking Sylar is a murderer. If Sylar is than it may be for good reasons. Sylar is in the list of special people the doctor had but with no information. Sylar could be a person or a group. Sylar could be protecting the group or setting up to kill the group. There is no telling. I thought it was Skylar like in Sky lab which would make sense seeing how the upcoming eclipse has something to do with the show. Perhaps Skylar is a Space Exploration or alien intelligence group. This could all turn out to be another "Highlander" style show. Who knows.

Sylar is a shrouded figure - seen in the dark -

See the cut and paste I put in below - it was so good - I put it directly in the answer.

Sylar is a character on the NBC drama Heroes. He is a serial killer[1] with superpowers.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.
The name "Sylar" first appeared on a cassette tape in Genesis, the first episode.

He is then mentioned verbally in the next episode, Don't Look Back. Sylar is stated to be a suspected serial killer. His perceived victims are sometimes seen with their heads sliced open horizontally at the center of their skull and lacking their brains.

Sylar knew the late Chandra Suresh, before he died. Chandra told his son, Mohinder that he thought that Sylar was "Patient Zero". In a taped phone call between Chandra and Sylar, the latter alludes that the former "made [him] this way" (aware of his powers) and refers to a mysterious "uncontrollable hunger" he now has. Chandra wanted nothing to do with Sylar at this point.

In the third episode, Mohinder and a friend, Eden, broke into an apartment believed to be Sylar's. Inside, Eden noted that there were no photographs in the apartment, but plenty of books on philosophy and a copy of Chandra Suresh's book. Mohinder took pictures of the apartment, his father's book on a bureau, books on the shelves, and a book in a glass case. He stumbled upon a secret room behind the glass case. Inside was a map similar to one used by the Suresh's, but with many more connections and papers linked to several of them. Eden identified Nathan Petrelli on one of the links. Mohinder found another room in the secret area covered by vinyl tarps. Inside, the walls were covered in scrawls, some seemingly written in blood, including, "FORGIVE ME FATHER FOR I HAVE SINNED." Mohinder fetched police officers to show them the apartment. By the time they returned, the apartment had been cleaned out.

In the very next scene, a man believed to be Sylar went after Molly, the daughter of a couple Sylar is believed to have slaughtered. Matt Parkman and an FBI agent named Audrey stopped him, with Matt protecting Molly and Audrey giving chase. When Audrey pulled her gun, the man somehow forced her backwards against a wall and made her point her own weapon to her head without making physical contact with her. When Matt arrived, he shot at the unknown man. However, when Matt turned to check on Audrey, the man moved back upright, and the bullets which hit him fell to the ground. As Matt and Audrey looked back, the man appeared to disappear upwards out of frame.

Birth of a Sylar
According to a news clipping on Sylar's wall, a "Paul E. Sylar" was born on June 11, 1962. This would make that man 44 in 2006. [2] Whether or not this Sylar is the same as the above mentioned character has not been verified.

Sylar, I'm guessing, is Claire's father. He always seems to operate on them &stuff. But I know that Sylar cuts off people's heads and takes their brains to check the "heroes" brain activity. Because he wants to create their powers to destroy the world. The one helping Sylar is Nikki's father.

In case you don't know.
Claire is the cheerleader.
Nikki is the one with the second body.

It's a bad person who has been wreaking havoc in the city but is untouchable and only a few select people know about Sylar. In my opinion it's the cheerleaders dad or that guy that he has with him that erases peoples minds

My husband and I watch the show each week, and I'm almost certain that Sylar is the cheerleader's dad. He keeps like kidnapping certain "Heroes" (like the cop) and stuff. The show is sorta hinting that he's the bad guy. Hope this clears stuff up...

No, Sylar is the killer, but I think it's the group of killers( the cheerleader's dad, the black guy who hasn't spoken, and the other guy who tried to get the FBI agent to kill herself) The artist is Isaac.

Hard to follow, but I think he is one of the "special" people, but his gift is in recognizing the others. He is tracking them down and murdering them in gruesome ways.

When the cop was being interrogated they mentioned different murders in different cities all being attributed to Siler

Also Siler managed to enter a secure police facility and nearly murdered the little girl the police were trying to protect.

Also, Suresh and the politicains brother guy found Siler's apartment and it was full of maps and pinpoints showing locations, like Suresh's dad created to locate the "special" people
