i dont believe that....i believe that everything happens for a reason, but not always for the best. things in life happen so that you can learn from them and stuff, so in the end it happens for a reason.....but if you make a big mistake then you learn from it, but it didn't really happen for the best

Everything does not always happen for the best. This is just something to say when you don't know what else to say. However, things do happen for a reason and that reason is usually a result of choices that we made.

Although things like death are not a choice or something that can be controlled.

It is a way of being optimistic. You wouldn't want someone to say to you oh man that sucks... your life is doomed.

Everything will however, work out one way or the other.

Voltaire's Candide said, "Everything is for the best, in this best of all possible worlds". Of course that's translated from French, so basically it's the same thing. Have you read
Candide? Or Justine by the Marquis de Sade, they make the same point. They say that innocence exists to be despoiled.

I am not saying that agree, by any means, but there is certainly evil in the world and it is foolish to overlook it.

I believe that there is a reason for everything. these people that say this are just plain and outright stupid. i work with many people doing many different things. i work alot with victims of rape. to tell these people that "It happened for the best" would likely get me shot and then they would end up going and killing themselves. and what about the twin towers, did that happen for the best? or the mother who loses their child to drunk driving. there is a reason, but by no means is it for the best.

It is the best way to look at things in life. If it had not been God's will, it would not have happened, that's why you say its for the best.

It's their way of being optimistic...it's hard sometimes to accept that there are some unexplainable horrible things that happen to us (and our fellow humans, dogs, birds, etc.) in this life. Some people use religion for that and say things like, "It must be part of God's plan." People use it as a crutch to get them through things.

it is an oppinion. but honestly if you believe in a higher power than i think that everything happens for a reason. for example i was really depresed when my grandfather died but then when my best friend's grandma died i was able to support her and help her through her hard time.

It's taking the c'est la vie approach to life. There is no truth to it whatsoever.

They just say it because it makes them feel better about bad things. They don't know it. There's no particular reason to think so.
