It isn't over until the Fat Lady sings, the Democrats have won nothing yet. They are notoriously poor voters despite having majority numbers.
Furthermore this is only mid-term Elections, if past trends are to be believed, the GOP base will turn as usual and a sizeable number of Democrats staying home.
True they might gain seats in both Houses, but will it be enough to alter the political landscape?

Don't get me wrong. It's not Democrats are bad, deep down I think most candidates are good, irrespective of party.
But you must realise that the majority of Democrats who vote regularly, come from states that have always been Democratic, eg, Mass, NY and Calif.
Remember how early exit polls in 2004, suggested an easy Kerry victory, but it turned out that he only managed to retain states that were won by Al Gore in 2000.
No significant inroads were made. Now this is only Mid-Term, if Democrats in states like Ohio, Penn and down South, show the usual apathy, their gains will be minimal.
