I think they were grey suits. I don't think they were seersucker though. But they kind of looked like it.

Matlock Suit

The show features Ben Matlock as a renowned, folksy, yet cantankerous defense attorney who is worth every penny of his $100,000 fee. Known for visiting the scene of the crime to discover clues otherwise overlooked and his down-home style of coming up with viable, alternative theories of the crime in question (usually murder) while sitting in his office playing the banjo or polishing his shoes, Griffith's character also had conspicuously finicky fashion sense. Ben Matlock always appeared in court wearing his trademark gray suit (though the necktie he always wore would be different)

He always work grey or tan colored suits whenever he was doing a case. It has never stopped him before. He wore the same suits as frequently as Columbo wore that same, filthy trenchcoat with that cigar hanging out.

Yes, he did wear seersucker suits! I m not sure if he ever wore one that was the classic candy-striped (White & another color), but he wore both blue and tan solid color seersucker suits. People often confuse "seersucker" to mean striped, but seersucker is a textured, cotton, fabric with lengthwise (striped) puckering—vs. gingham that has square puckering.

You're both right. Sometimes he did and sometimes he didn't.
