Of course! The conservative-biased media constantly dumbs-down the populace, as non-thinking 'ditto heads' are spoon-fed the Fox "News" and Rush Limbaugh political pabulum that only serves to spread hatred, bigotry, and lies.
The Catholic Church thrived by keeping citizens uneducated and uninformed (and it still does that in some third-world countries today).
You hold on to power by maintaining control (at any cost) and through manipulation, intimidation, and - if all that doesn't work - out-and-out lying and crude, juvenile shouting. Hitler did it in the 1930's. Rush Limbaugh, Shawn Hannity, and Ann Colture are doing it today. It's just a matter of time before the uneducated, brainwashed American 'ditto heads' will convince the 'wackos' that it's acceptable to abuse, torture or even kill anyone who disagrees with their political point of view.
Sure, it can't happen here. Well, it happened in Nazi Germany less than 75 years ago, and 6,000,000 Jews and gypsies were massacred as part of Hitler's vision of a pure, Ayran race.
If Limbaugh keeps spreading his filth, lies, distortions, hatred, bigotry, and half-truths, it's only a matter of time before we will agree that it's okay to kill Jews, Muslims, homosexuals, cross dressers, non-Christians, liberals, poor people, or those who are retarded, disabled, aged, sick, hungry or homeless.
Meanwhile, the conservative-biased media will heartily endorse the "perfect profile" of all the pedophiles, white collar criminals, wife beaters, prescription drug abusers, cheaters, alcoholics, bad-check writers, gambling addicts, rapists, and (maybe) even a murderer or two who make up the current, most incompetent, contemptible, arrogant, greedy, dastardly, corrupt U.S. Congress in our nation's history. -RKO-

Yes, but in a round-about way. These new Republicans that control the government maintain power through fear. They keep us scared and tell us that only they can protect us. It's easier to keep uneducated ( I think you really mean dumb) people scared and in line than educated people. There's always a new boogie man out there.
What's the alert status right now?

This is more an issue of both sides having a vested interest in that, not republicans. If you get down to it though, the more liberal colleges do have worse records of educational standards.

low wages... keeping the money in the upper 5 percent...
have you seen the costs of tuition over the past 6 years with Bush and Republicans in office... up 40 percent...
and the rates on school loans are also up...
and No Child Left Behind mandated many changes with no funding to pay for it... taking even more money away from the schools... talk to any teacher about how "great" it is..hahahah
Samuel P: guess you don't know any scientists... doctors... lawyers... social workers... teachers... I could go on and on.... just hire some people off the street for these jobs and see what you get...
shut up dummy: who does control college tuition? colleges have a say, certianly... but when federal and state funds are SLASHED (by Republican dominated states and congress)... they have to make that funding up somewhere... higher tuition...
HOLD ON, HOLD ON, HOLD ON... wasn't Samuel P the guy that said he was going back to school... yet now he said you can't learn anything in school?
uh... ok?

How in the HELL is an agenda like that conducive to keeping ANY political party alive? Do you think that's a realistic question?
You're just speaking out of hatred for a set of ideals that don't agree with your own!

No, they definitely do not. Case in point: the "No Child Left Behind" policy. Education is the only way that our nation can remain a strong superpower in this multinational world. Everyone should at least graduate high school.

Sure seems that way. If folks aren't informed then fear and intimidation is all that's needed to stay in power. Sound familiar?
And SamuelP, you're killing me LOL.
