Do you get offended if you're called homosexual?

Or do u prefer gay, lesbian, bi, what offends u as what some consider and outcast?
I don't think homosexuals or any one of that nature is an outcast, they belong just as much as we do. Just an opinion ?

Nah, being called homosexual doesn't offend me. Being called gay or bi or dyke or fag or anything else doesn't. They're words. What does offend me is the intention behind the words. When someone says "The homosexuals are wonderful interior decorators.", then I think they're a little out-of-touch, a little dotty, but well-meaning. But when someone says "We need to address the homosexual issue.", then I take offense- it's a word used clinically, coldly, like someone holding something disgusting as far away from their body as possible so as not to be contaminated. 'Gay' and 'lesbian' are such commonly accepted words that they don't bear any bad meaning. The only way they do is when someone uses them like an adjective, like "That's gay." when they are actually talking about something being stupid, etc.. Being bisexual, I love being called bi, but for someone who is straight or gay, they probably wouldn't like that too much. But then again, most people don't call someone bisexual unless they have reasons to back that up. And finally, being called a 'fag' or 'dyke' depends on who's saying it, and how. If it's screamed from a passing truck throwing beer bottles, it is offensive. If it's whispered under the breath as I pass, it's offensive. If someone uses it in a friendly fashion to acknowledge that I am a woman and like women, or a man who likes men, that's fine with me, although other people often take offense. As for any other general slurs, like 'c**t-licker', 'carpet muncher', 'c**k sucker', 'fence-sitter' (for bisexuals), etc., they are only allowed if used by the person about him/herself. Never to anyone else. Ever. But that's just me.

the word homosexual should not offend anyon. it is a clinical term to describe a certain group of people just like hetrosexual or african american or jewish. but when i hear some one use the term homosexual then i know they do not know much about the lgbt community. really the best description is gay for a man,lesbian for a woman, bi for either that are attracted to both or trans for the transgender part of our community. and the difference, in case you are wondering, between transgender and transsexual is transgender are people who feel they were born in the wrong body and will live their life as the opposite sex or even get a sex change. the transsexual's are drag queens or kings. men or women who dress as the opposite sex but don't actually feel they were born in the wrong body.

I get offended selectively. There are people who call homosexuals with such negative connotations. When such happens, I get offended. Personally, I couldn't care less about these labels. People just use these labels to better understand the different sexual orientations that inevitably exist. But, since people need these labels, I prefer to be called a lesbian. Loud and proud! \m/

I prefer lesbian but in some contexts saying homosexual is better. Sometimes if someone calls me homosexual I call them heterosexual back. It either makes them laugh or makes then think about the word.

I get offended by hate crimes, where GLBT are attacked and murdered simply for the fact that they are breathing.

Words are words, they are a reflection of the speaker or writers self worth. Hate filled words come from people who hate themselves and who need someone else to blame for their own misery.

I'm not offended by homosexual, or lesbian, because that's what I am. it's when the haters use the nasty slurs is when I'm offended. but call them out on what they are...and THEY get offended. funny, isn't it? they can dish it out, but they sure can't take it.
