D. Mitosis (one nuclear division, thus 1 cell becomes 2...that's how skin cells, etc are formed)

Meiosis is not correct because 1 cell becomes 4 new cells. Two nuclear divisions and this process makes new cells with half the orignial number of chromosomes. This is how sex cells only are made.
