I live in a lower unit apt. and since i moved in a few months ago i cannot remove this musty smell. I smoke cig.as well but always have two windows for fresh air and two cieling fans on at all times..I'm wondering what I can do to eliminate these odors .I use that carpet fresh every week, burn scented candles, clean weekly and yes , i shower at least once daily (lol) .Do you think maybe steam cleaning the carpet would work ? Any ideas will greatly appreciated .Thank you

the worst thing you could use is carpet fresh, because it goes through the carpet and into the pad and down to the floor boards and sits there,my suggestion would be a heavy duty,odor-b-gone,or something of that nature, yes cleaning the carpet will help, but the heavy duty deodorizer will help as well, good luck

Febreze air effects for the air, and a good carpet cleaning wont hurt. Have you tried to febreze th carpet? You need to vaccum over it after it dires because it makes the carpet slick ...

If its that bad, then it could be in the walls. Try washing the walls and ceiling down( I know, its a lot of work). Use a little bleach in the water. If you can paint, that would be better. Air fresheners only mask the smell for a short time. Good luck!

You might want to invest in a dehumidifier to get the moisture out of the air.
