My b/f and i have been together for 4 1/2 years. I was 16 & he was 17 so we are still fairly young. I still have 2 1/2 years left of school (i would wait till after school for the wedding itself) and he is a paramedic and we are getting a house within a year. When would be a good time for us to get engaged?? (we are fairly traditional so i won't be popping the question.). Because we are still young, should we wait even longer before considering it??

He should ask the question when he is really ready to make the lifelong commitment of marriage. Don't force the issue with him. If you do, he will feel trapped or forced and pull away from you no matter how much he loves you. Definitely wait until you are finished with school for anything serious. As young as you are and as high as the divorce rate is in this country, I could seek some counseling first to make sure you are both on the same page and headed in the same direction. It will help you have a sound plan for your life together. Wait on getting the house also. That's almost as big a step as marriage.

If it were me, I would wait until we were both done with school.
