I'll ONLY read reveiws after I see a film. Most film critics are bloody awful, and think that their job requires that they give an exhaustive summary of the plot. So, unless I want all of the suspense and surprise removed from my movie-going experience, I've learned to ignore them until after I see the film in question.

I do a movie reviews column for the local paper on a weekly basis. Doesn't mean that I have right answers to anyone's question. Most people however, read the reviews prior to making their decision as to what they will and won't watch. Including rental or theatre run films. As a reviewer, I try not to influence from my likes and dislikes, but, to rather inform about quality in the four key areas. Those being; direction, acting, screenplay and editing. Any one of which can take a film from mediocrity to briliiance or utter failure. Which in some cases is totally unfair. Example; great script, good acting, well organized, but butchered onto the cutting room floor. My personal pet peeve in film making. God forbid, there should be a studio allowing a potentially great movie to extend beyond the magic 90 minute mark. SO SAD !!!

Yes Before the movies..and after I watch movies I compare my opinion on that movie with the review I read. I love cinema, movies, and I really think it is useful to read reviews before the movie.....Let me give you an example "Hostel" was a dissapointment, I read the reviews and decided not to watch that movie..months later I watched it at a friend`s house and it was right!! Hostel was pathetic as the review said.

I don't base my decision of wanting to see a movie on someones opinion, that's just stupid.
If I see a preview, i have this thing inside my brain that tells me if I am interested in it or not.
Just because some schmoe in a newspaper loved some movie about war and distruction, doesn't mean I will. I hate war movies.
And why would your opinion be right or wrong? Just because you didn't like something doesn't mean it was a bad movie. If you hated a movie and then hear people liked it, do you suddenly change your mind, just to agree with everyone?

I don't really read them unless I am wondering what people have to say about it. I don't let what others think to determine if I would like a movie or not. Everyone has different views of movies. some like horror and some don't. It all depends on the individual. I like my movies because they reflect who I am, however I have some movies that you may not like. I think it all depends on the individual.

Neither...cause a lot of the time when I have read the reviews, they either love a movie I was so so on or hate something I loved...fickle reviewers!

I usually watch the trailer and don't pay too much attention to reviews, personally they're only someones opinion.
