You can see daily newspaper comix @ Yahoo, also comics.com. Marvel has their own site as well.

Toonopedia-- an online reference to all kinds of characters, and it has links as well. This one will tell you whether a certain character was retired, was killed, whether they stayed dead or not, etc.
